HOPE Volunteer Opportunities

HOPE is a nonprofit organization with nine employees, four aides, one contract worker, and six board members. Everybody works hard, but they can’t do everything. Volunteers help fill in the gaps to help things run smoother and quicker. We have five volunteer needs:

First Need:

We need classroom volunteers. Our teacher to student ratio is sufficient, but some students need more individual attention than others. Volunteers can help fill that need.

Second Need:

Instructors, on average, have 90 minutes of prep time per day. But often, that is not enough. They have lesson plans and materials to prepare, research to conduct, shelves to organize, and surfaces to clean. A helpful volunteer would be a huge plus.

Third Need:

Closets, floors, shelves, and windows need periodic cleaning. We do our best, but sometimes, we need more. We work within a 2000 square space, the average size of a three-to-four-bedroom home, so you can imagine how much work is needed. Volunteers could help keep the space bright and cheerful.

Fourth Need:

We need event volunteers to help produce events. We have an event on July 29, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm., for example, with the following schedule:

  • 1:00 to 5:00: Set up including mount the exhibition, set up a performance space, organize the HOPE store, mount signage, decorate the space, etc.
  • 5:00 to 9:00: Event operation which includes operating the HOPE store, managing a silent auction or exhibition, passing out programs, wayfinding, troubleshooting, guarding the exhibition, etc.
  • 9:00 to 9:30: Clean-up including helping us take everything apart and putting it away.

Fifth Need:
